Healthy Whole Wheat Applesauce Bars

I have applesauce that I need to get rid of and some egg whites, so I came up with this awesome recipe. If you try it I hope you enjoy!

Applesauce Bars

Ingredients
1/2 cup of pumpkin puree
2/3 cup of sugar
1/3 cup egg white
2 cups of applesauce
2 cups of whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice


Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease 9x13 inch baking pan.
2. In a medium bowl, mix together the pumpkin, sugar and egg whites until smooth. Stir in applesauce. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt and pumpkin pie spice in a separate bowl; stir into the applesauce mixture until well blended. Spread evenly into prepared pan.
3. Bake for 30-40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are golden brown and toothpick or knife inserted in middle comes out clean. Cool in the pan over a wire rack.





If desired, dust with powered sugar. Pretty, but still tastes yummy without it. Enjoy!
